Why a coming nuclear war is logical:

If the separate republics of Ukraine apply to join the Russian Federation, the Duma will decide in favour of this enlargement.

If Ukraine then attacks these separatist areas, Russia will consider this an attack on its own territory.

If the Russian Federation is attacked on its own territory, then it has the right to use nuclear weapons.

If the Russian President has to weigh whether he can save the lives of tens of thousands of Russians in a trench warfare by sacrificing the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainians in a nuclear strike, then his weighing will be in favor of his own people.

If the President of the Russian Federation orders a nuclear strike against Ukraine, then it will be carried out.

If the Russian Federation launches a nuclear attack on Ukraine, then NATO will launch a (not necessarily nuclear) counterattack on Russia.

If NATO launches a (not necessarily nuclear) retaliation against Russia, Russia will respond with nuclear strikes against all NATO countries.
